avg anti virus free editionHow do I remove AVG Free Edition Anti
The program will not run. Each time I start my PC a window pops up with this message "Could not initialize AVG Anti-Virus Kernel Interface. Application cannot run".
When I try to uninstall the program I get this message: "Installation failure. Error: Initialization of the language file "C\Program Files\Grisoft\Avg Free" failed. General failure". As a result of the installation not being completed I cannot uninstall it but neither can I try to reinstall it, or another anti-virus program. Also, I am not regsitered with AVG to post a help topic on its site.
AVG refuses to help because it is the free edition. I've been told my only option is to install a new hard disk and transfer all my programs to it and use a real anti-virus program.

My only solution now is to have a new hard disk installed and transfer only the data I need for my existing computer to the new hard disk. And, also, to stay away from AVG products.
Install the copy you are trying to remove, and try this:

When the uninstall didn't work correctly, you were left with a registry entry that has the permissions set wrong. You need to correct this so you can continue.
Run REGEDT32 and navigate to the following key...

Right click on the key name in the left window, savg anti virus free editionelect Permissions from the options. Give your username and the Administrators full permissions and apply, when it asks if you want to apply the same permissions for subkeys.. say yes.

If you are using a manual one,read the instructions and help carefully first. The automated ones will find a load of useless stuff unrelated to AVG - it's OK to clean that out, too.
Reboot, go to command line and run regedit. In regedit, search for avg*, and delete all references that you find. Just delete the keys that start with avg, don't bother with any other keys that may be associated with those. Most of them will be in the Software section of the registry. Don't delete anything else, no matter how tempting
Reboot. You should now be able to delete all remaining files and folders created by AVG install.
Reboot, and run the registry cleaner again.
You should now have a clean machine, or as clean as the registry cleaner could make it.
Reboot, and reinstall using another download of AVG
start your pc in safe mode and then try to uninstall it from add and remove programmes

Visitors to the eDonkey Web site are now greeted by an intentionally blunt message advising surfers they are not anonymous online (and playfully proving it by displaying visitor IP addresses).
Only a month ago, we learned that former top file-sharing program Kazaa settled with the RIAA for $115 million, and that current top P2P application LimeWire was being sued for an estimated $476 million. The LimeWire case is expected to go to court next month.

They are so busy running here and there trying to stop these companies rather then thinking of other different stratgies to take them down. When edonkey got bombed, I spent less than 2 minutes finding another P2P network, and I like it better. You can't put a genie back into the bottle, the ttop p2p file sharing sitesechnology exists, now adapt or die, RIAA.
It's dangerous for one thing. You never really know what you are downloading. It's a great way to get spyware and viruses onto your computer.
It's also illegal - plain and simple. You're getting a product for free. If you're on one of this p2p programs, you are also likely uploading it to someone else as well. And it's not like loaning a CD to a friend...you're giving it to 'god knows who'. This only hurts everyone in the end. And it hurts the bands and groups that make the music most. Remember, you're not just hurting the huge record companys, you're hurting your favorite artists as well.

The problem is that there really is no way to protect the copyright files that are being shared. If there was a way to keep people from breaking the law by sharing copyright materials, P2P would be the best way to let people hear what you have created.

sims 2 downloadsWhere did my downloads go for the sims 2?
I downloaded certain stuff for the sims 2 of several sites and then i went into my downloads.
It was there so i double-clicked and then i clicked extract all files.
After doing that to everyone (the files are still in the sims downloads) I went into the game and theres nothing there? What do i do?
Make a folder named Downloads (capital d), it goes in your documents.
C:\Documents and Settings\your name\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2
Your custom content will go in your Downloads folder.
I ussims 2 downloadsed to have that same exact problem.
What you should probably do is download the "Sims File Maid 2". It's a completely free download and it moves all of your downloads into the game.
Once you download it, open up your downloads and the File Maid. Drag each of your downloads, one at a time, to the File Maid. When you start the game up, a window should pop up that says What you downloaded and if you would like to enable the content or disable it. Click enable and it will bring you tosims 2 downloads the normal page. Here you will have to exit that game and restart. But when you go to put in the furniture you downloaded, it will show up with little Astrix symbol (*) in the bottom.

Things like housework, school-work, & bicycle maintenance are sometime coupled with specific records or types of music. It makes those experiences nice.

magellan software updatesMagellan Maestro 3100 Software Updating Problems?
Hi. I just bought a magellan maestro 3100 a few days ago. I took it out for a drive and I figured out that the software was outdated and so I looked on their website for a update. I found it, but I am having a lot of trouble with the process. I have the update downloaded onto my computer, but when I go to put in the memory card, and plug in the usb, it says the battery is too low and there is no memory card found. I am really frustrated with this. Please help!
Here's a MANUAL approach that will update and fix the problem. A few of us have used it and it works, it's just not as easy as the AUTO approach. Magellan says an updated fix will be posted soon. I tried it and it worked for me - no promises, but check it out.
It'll take about 15 minutes if you carefully follow these step-by-step.
1. Unzip downloaded file
2. Use WinRAR to extract the executeable (they will all be in a file folder)
3. Create USBTRANS file in SYS folder on unit (or copy the backup that was made on the SD card)
4. Copy the contents of COPY_GROUP 1, 11, 13, 17 to USBTRANS which is in the SYS folder
5. Copy the contents of COPY_GROUP 2, 3, 5, 7, 8 to MAP
6. Copy the contents of COPY_GROUP 4, 6, 12, 14, 15 to APP
(NOTE: in order to copy the contents of group 14 over to the APP folder, you will need to copy the contents of TNShell_Bitmap\Venus2 to the same folder on the unit, that way the folder isn't just replaced.)
7. Copy contents of COPY_GROUP 9 and 10 to SD card

9. Once copied over, unplug the unit and it should reset itself. Then all should be working

The info that anthony posted got my 3100 working again... But most of the buttons was screwed up (but still worked)... So now i'm going to try the update again to see what happens... If all fails i'm taking my gps back to the store to get another unit or i may just go with TomTom XL....
