can vegetarians eat fish youAre you a vegetarian if you eat fish? Do vegetarians eat fish , if no then why not ?

I am a vegetarian and i occasionally eat fish. I do not eat anything that can have emotional bonds. i know some people may proclaim something about finding nemo , but finding nemo is a fictional film made for children. The only fish i eat is plaice and boneless cod.
Look vegetarian isn't an opinion. From the Vegetarian Society:

"We define a vegetarian as someone living on a diet of grains, pulses, nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruits, with or without the use of dairy products and eggs. A vegetarian does not eat any meat, poultry, game, fish, shellfish or crustacea, or slaughter by-products."

That's the accepted definition of a vegetarian. You can't just do whatever you want and still call yourself one. That's dishonest. I don't care whether you eat fish or not but don't call yourself a vegetarian if you do.
Does it really matter?

If you eat fish then you are not a vegetarian. It is really very simple, just look up the definition. Vegetarians also do not eat meat or chicken(a type of meat, never understood the need to distinguish it from "meat"), but they can eat dairy and eggs.

I believe it is a huge, ridiculous misconception that "vegetarians" can eat fish, and it ruins things for the real vegetarians who never consume fish or chicken. Even "semi-vegetarian" or "near-vegetarian" is pushing it, just abandon any pretense to vegetarianism altogether. Fish is just a type of meat, fish-meat, not a plant food.

Now everyone out there who eats chicken or fish in any amount, even if they exclude red meat - DO NOT CALL YOURSELF A VEGETARIAN!
There are several classifications.

-Lacto-ovo vegetarians eat no meat, but do eat dairy and eggs.

-Vegans eat no animal productscan vegetarians eat fish you, nor do they use animal products (ie/ leather).

-Pescetarians eat no meat, with the exception of fish.

Another thing to keep in mind is that "meat" refers to any soft tissue of an animal. So this includes beef, poultry, pork, fish and a variety of other sea critters and bugs. Many people refer to red meat as "meat", but that's not accurate, it includes all animals.

It sounds like you are a pescetarian, as you occasionally eat fish. Hope that helps!
If you occasionally eat fish, then you are not a vegetarian. Vegetarians eat no animals. If you really want a label, then you can call yourself a pescatarian, but that is not a type of vegetarian. I'm no expert on fish, but I'm pretty sure that they have been proven to be very intelligent and sentient animals, so it's really no different than eating any other type of animal. I have no idea where you got the Finding Nemo example from though...
Vegetarianism is not the omission of foods that can have emotional bonds (and I'm sorry, you haven't owned many fish, have you?), but the omission of eating animals. You still eat an animal, so you therefore are not vegetarian.

Simple as that.

There's no opinion, no value system, no asterisk, no footnote. It's just a damn definition, and you don't fit it.
Your not a vegetarian, i think that's so disrespectful for people who are actually vegetarian, and might get given stuff with fish
I'm not against the fact that you eat fish, just that you say you're a veggie
You're a pescetarian :)

I'm a vegan, and i would never eat fish since it's been proven they feel pain, and my auntie used to own a fish farm, and the place was horrible! I never really liked fish anyway, all the small bones used to give me heebie jeebies..
Last time I looked it up, thiscan vegetarians eat fish you quesion had been aske 2000 times!

No they don't eat fish.
Why? Thre same reason they don't eat any other meat.

Vegetarians would not use finding nemo as a reason not to eat fish, cause they aren't retards.
You? Yes you seem to be retarded.
Vegetarian implies a meat free diet. Fish are animals so you are NOT a vegetarian.

I know women/girls like to "be different", but come on now.... you eat meat, then you're not a vegetarian.

People like you give vegetarians a bad reputation.
Vegetarians definitely do not eat fish. I recently read someone describing that as a type of meat-eater, not a type of vegetarian. Fish lived too and the majority were killed in pretty horrific ways.
You're a pescetarian, not a vegetarian. Take out a dictionary - vegetarians do NOT eat fish. Anything the animal has die for is not consider veggie-friendly.
its everyones preference and what they want to call themselves. You can still be a veg and eat fish and you can still be one if you dont eat fish. Its just everyones choices theirs no right or wrong.
vegetarians do NOT eat fish. u r a pescetarian, it means u eat fish
Fish have emotional bonds too!!! Your not a vegetarian if you eat fish. Fish are meat that was once living. And, fish have feelings and brains, too.
A vegetarian by definition does not eat fish. By definition you are a pescetarian.
I have been very unsuccessful with growing fish(unlike Tomato's and potatoes) the cats tend to dig them up when planted!
Real vegetarians don't eat any kind of animal. Fish are animals.
You are not a vegetarian.
What do you think the "veg" bit stands for?
